Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Winemaking:
Wine made exclusively with Chardonnay from our Cregenzán and Barbastro vineyards. Only when the grapes reach optimum maturity, mechanized harvesting is carried out at night, and the grapes are transported and received at the winery in a short time to carry out cold maceration, in order to obtain a more structured and fruity wine.
Next, the "mosto flor" (the must) is extracted by gravity to carry out a static "racking" of 48 hours in an inert atmosphere. Alcoholic fermentation of most of the cuvee (80%) takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperature, thus preserving all the fruit and floral aromas of the variety. The rest (20%) ends its' fermentation in French oak barrels from different French forests and remains 2 months on the lees, to enhance the structure and complexity of the cuvee but avoiding an over-oaked wine!.
The final assembly of the cuvee brings together the tank fermented wine - which provides fruit and varietal character - with the barrel treated wine, which gives the flavours and aromas of wood and the end result is this Laus "Flor de Chardonnay".
Tasting Notes:
Bright-looking white wine, pale lemon yellow with patches of green and pewter.
Elegant nose with a complex fruity aroma, highlighting citrus, pineapple, pear and banana, all with a background of toasted nuts and vanilla nuances.
Flavour is tasty, filling the mouth with powerful and fresh fruit sensations, an excellent acidity and some creaminess (not overdone) resulting from the oak. An elegant, well balanced and very European white wine!
